Richard Keys slams Mikel Arteta 'nonsense' in latest Arsenal jibe after Man United win
Richard Keys hopes Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has 'learned his lesson' after the Gunners' win over Manchester United.
Arsenal recorded a dramatic 3-1 victory over their old rivals at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus sparked jubilant scenes, shortly after Man United had seen an effort from Alejandro Garnacho chalked off for offside.
Ahead of the game, an injury to Thomas Partey forced the Gunners boss to shuffle his pack and restore Gabriel Magalhaes to the starting XI, whose earlier omission had prompted plenty of discussion. When asked about previously playing Partey as an inverted full-back, Arteta gave an unusual explanation, which included the 43 formations he had used against Manchester City and the various routes he takes to London Colney each morning.
It may have been a somewhat long-winded analogy but the message was clear. However, beIN SPORTS presenter Keys viewed Gabriel’s return to the side against United as vindication that Arteta is occasionally guilty of over-complicating his tactics.

“There’s no question that Arsenal looked more solid with Gabriel back in the side,” Keys wrote in his blog. “I hope Arteta has learned his lesson — he’s too clever by half sometimes. All that nonsense last week about flat tyres, the M25 and 43 different formations during the game v City. It was ridiculous.”
