Manchester City star Rodri says he is aiming to find the net more often after hitting the decisive strike against Sheffield United on Sunday.
The midfielder scored yet another important goal for the Blues, having smacked home his historic piledriver against Inter in the Champions League final in June. In the previous season, he netted a stoppage-time winner over Arsenal to hand City a crucial three points as they pipped Liverpool to the title.
The defensive midfielder has become one of Pep Guardiola’s most influential players. While cutting out threatening attacks, he has also demonstrated his accuracy at the other end of the pitch, as shown against Bayern Munich in last season’s Champions League.
This time around, he is already halfway to last term’s four-goal haul, having also netted seven times in the 2021/22 campaign. Speaking after full-time at Bramall Lane, Rodri outlined how he wants to continue building on his eye for goal while explaining his thought process behind Sunday’s winner.

“I just analysed a little bit. Sheffield United drop so, so deep, they pay a lot of attention to the strikers, to the wingers, but not much to the midfielders that come behind,” he told Premier League Productions.
“I was trying to shoot, you can see me in the game, I shot like six, seven times not being successful but at the end I found space. I could feel that the control was not going to be good because the ball [into me] was so strong, so I anticipate that moment and I shoot first touch.
“I said before this season I could get more goals, be more times in the area and these situations, so I’m very happy for that.”
