Chelsea are set for another big summer of change at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino under pressure once again. Following last week's Carabao Cup final defeat to an injury-hit and youthful Liverpool team, sections of the fanbase made their feelings known with X-rated chants aimed at Pochettino and the club hierarchy.
Whether the Blues secure European football for next season or not is said to be a huge element in the club's backing of Pochettino going forward. They currently sit 11th in the Premier League, meaning a spot in Europe is more likely to come from winning the FA Cup.
Long-term thinking has already been considered at Cobham, with the Guardian reporting that Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim and Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi have been shortlisted as potential replacements for the Argentine.
Amorim was on the club's radar after Graham Potter's failed reign in west London. The 39-year-old, who is also on Liverpool's watchlist to replace Jurgen Klopp, is on course to lead Sporting to their first Portuguese title since 2021.
Should proceedings play out for Amorim to become Todd Boehly's sixth head coach at the club, Chelsea will be hoping to use his influence to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish forward has enjoyed a terrific first season in Europe after leaving Coventry City in the summer. Gyokeres has scored a sensational 32 goals in 35 games for Sporting to attract interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
