Sporting manager Ruben Amorim has been backed to be a success in the Premier League amid links with Liverpool.
The 39-year-old has been in charge since March 2020, guiding the Portuguese giant to their first league title in 19 years during his first full season. Sporting are currently top of the league with a game in hand and Amorim has earned plenty of plaudits for his work in Lisbon.
Liverpool are tasked with finding a replacement for long-serving boss Jurgen Klopp this summer. Amorim is one of several names to have been touted with the vacancy and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes believes the Sporting coach would excel in English football.

What Richard Hughes has said about transfers teases next Liverpool set-up and new manager role
“If he really takes the next step – I hope he stays at Sporting – but if he takes the next step, I think the qualities are all there to be able to succeed in English, French, or Spanish football,” Fernandes told SportTV.
“Obviously, we know that the Premier League is probably the most desired. The qualities (to succeed in England) are there. And he (Amorim) has everything to take the next step, in my opinion.
“But it will depend on the clubs, the directors, whether they want to pay the Sporting’s release clause or not. There are many components. But I think that the manager Ruben Amorim is prepared for the next leap.”
Liverpool would be required to pay a reported €20 million to activate Amorim's release clause, with his contract running until 2026. New sporting director Richard Hughes will be part of the team helping to appoint Klopp’s successor after his move from Bournemouth
