Liverpool new manager latest after Ruben Amorim contract agreement claims
Liverpool are continuing to assess a number of potential managerial candidates despite rumours of an imminent deal for Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has become the favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season after former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso last month opted to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
Reports in Portugal on Monday claimed Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with representatives of Amorim over a three-year contract to take over at Anfield from Klopp, who is departing after almost nine years in charge.

However, the ECHO understands such suggestions are premature with the process to recruit their next manager, led by Fenway Sports Group football supremo Michael Edwards, ongoing.
Liverpool are still identifying and researching a shortlist of feasible candidates and have yet to determine and formally act upon a preferred choice. Nevertheless, Amorim has emerged as an attractive option for the Reds having impressed during his time in charge at Sporting Lisbon, where he is closing on a second Portuguese title in four years.
Amorim has also been linked with interest from Chelsea should they decide to part with Mauricio Pochettino in the summer, with Barcelona also admirers, although the Catalans haven't given up hope of persuading Xavi to stay on as boss after the end of the campaign.
A number of other names have been touted as Klopp's successor since he made public his decision to leave in January, including Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann.
