Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce has outlined how his old club can beat Liverpool this weekend.
The latest instalment of the Merseyside derby takes place at Anfield on Saturday at lunchtime. The game will be the 243rd meeting between both clubs.
Everton make the trip across Stanley Park on the back of a 3-0 win over Bournemouth in their last game before the international break. Sean Dyche’s side has also won three of their last four games in all competitions.
Liverpool, on the other hand, were held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex last time out. But Jurgen Klopp’s side currently find themselves 10 points ahead of the Blues in the Premier League table.

History is also not on the Blues’ side. Everton have only beaten their arch-rivals once in the last 28 Merseyside derbies played at Anfield, a 2-0 victory back in February 2021.
But Allardyce, speaking to talkSPORT, believes a combination of Everton taking their chances and defending properly could result in Dyche's side causing a major upset on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “Well, I think that there needs to always be a chance for an upset from Sean against Liverpool.
“I think the big favourites will definitely be Liverpool. I think Liverpool will have to have a slightly under-par day, and Everton be on top form.
“Every big chance Everton may make, [they] will need to convert into a goal, and defensively, they will have to be at their very, very, very best. So, it’s going to be a great watch.”
