Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali will be banned for ten months and will miss the rest of the Premier League season, FIGC (Italian Football Federation) President Gabriele Gravina has confirmed.
The Italian midfielder will be unavailable for selection until late August and will miss the European Championships in Germany next summer, should Italy qualify for the competition.
Speaking at CONI in Rome on Thursday, Gravina said: «The FIGC Prosecutor and Tonali have reached an agreement which I have already approved,» as quoted by Sky Sports Italy.

Tonali has not been investigated for potential match-fixing after placing bets on AC Milan, his former side, to win games. It is against the rules for football players to bet on any sports events.
The Newcastle star's ban comes after Juventus's Nicolo Fagioli was handed a seven-month ban. The Italian had originally been given a longer ban, 12 months, but five months was reduced in exchange for gambling addiction treatment.
