For just the fourth time this year, Arsenal drew a blank in front of goal with a further lack of cutting edge shown just four days on from the weekend's 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. As a result of missing chances and not scoring over the last 180 minutes, reactionary cries to sign an elite-level striker have been made but to Arteta getting by without one is what may have to be done.
«We have been the team that has scored more goals in the Premier League,» he said in an interview with CBS Sports when asked about his side not scoring.
«From everywhere [we have scored goals], because of the reality is we don't have a striker that is going to score 35 or 40 goals. So we have to live with that, we have many other qualities. Considering both Stan and son Josh Kroenke were present at Allianz Arena for the European clash he may feel the need to offer up more funds in order for Arsenal to sign a striker. Goals have arrived across the pitch this season but no player has passed 20 for the season in all competitions.
In comparison to Manchester City, who have Erling Haaland on 31 and Phil Foden on 22, it is quite clear what is required and Kroenke will have likely seen that himself.
