Simon Hanna admits confidence is coursing through the veins at Comber after they made it 13 straight wins in Saturday’s 4-0 Steel Cup quarter-final drubbing of Holywood.
The Park Way men are flying, with six points from six in the Premier Division banked back in August, and a run now of 11 consecutive cup victories.
Of course, it means the games are sure to come thick and fast, with Gareth McKeown and Mark Picking’s side now through to the semi-finals of both the Steel Cup and Border Cup – Greenisland lie in wait in both games – while progressing also in both the Irish and Intermediate Cups.
This kind of winning form stores up trouble down the line, with a league fixture backlog likely to develop around spring, but Hanna says Comber will cross that bridge when they come to it.
And in any event, he feels momentum and building up a head of steam can only be a good thing as Comber look to convert all these wins into some silverware.
"Everyone at the club is feeling confident,” said Hanna, a former Sheffield Wednesday trainee and regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the Amateur League.
“But we’re not over-confident either. We learned that a few years ago when we were going for the league and nearly blew it.
"So everyone knows that in the semis in a cup competition, that anything can happen.
"But ideally, when you’re looking at the draw and the teams left in it, there’s no reason why we can’t go on and win it.
