Stunning scene as Andy Delort collapses and convulses mid-match in Qatar

The French player was treated on the pitch and watched the second half of the Qatar Cup final, which his team Umm-Salal won on penalties against Al Arabi, on the bench

Umm-Salal's French striker Andy Delort collapsed and convulsed on the pitch in the 16th minute of the Qatar Stars Cup final against Al Arabi.

Ten minutes after scoring his team's first goal, the French striker began to spin around, as if dazed, seconds before collapsing to the ground and convulsing.

Andy Delort was quickly treated by the medical services present at the stadium, whilst the entire situation brought terror to those on the pitch.

The match continued to be played, withUmm-Salal winning on penalties over Al Arabi (5-4) after normal time ended in a 4-4 draw and, according to the French press, the player was seen on his team's bench in the second half, watching the action unfold.

Andy Delort has five goals and four assists in 12 appearances for Umm-Salal, having joined a few months ago from French side Nantes. There was immediate concern for the player when he collapsed on the pitch, given the fact we've seen the tragic nature of such occurrences.

However, as per the aforementioned French report, Delort appears to be out of immediate danger and was able to be brought round.

As yet it is unclear just what caused the issue, be it medical, cardiac-related or dehydration.

The striker has spent most of his career in French football.

He played 14 games for Mexican side Tigres UANL during the 2016-2017 season and 11 games for English side Wigan Athletic in 2014-2015.
