Erik ten Hag believes he's “on the same page” with new Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The United boss held extensive talks with Ratcliffe on Wednesday after Britain’s richest man flew in from his tax haven in Monaco to outline his plans for the club.
The Oldham-born billionaire is in the final stages of completing a £1.25billion deal that will secure him a 25 percent stake in the club he supported as a boy and give his INEOS group control of football operations at Old Trafford. Ten Hag insists his initial negotiations with Ratcliffe suggested that they share the same vision for United - although the Dutchman needs to deliver some better results after seeing his team suffer 14 defeats already this season.
Ten Hag said: “It was very positive, I have to say.
"We had a long meeting, so many hours we sat together - and on many issues we were on the same page. It was very positive from both sides. I can say that it was a very constructive meeting and we're looking forward to working with each other.
“Also we have to let it settle down. They're just coming in, introducing themselves, but they have good ideas and we have to see what we can integrate. In togetherness we will work but after one day you can't tell that.
“They have given me a few (ideas) and we have had our debates about strategies and I think we will come together.”
United’s season is on a knife-edge. They are eighth in the Premier League after nine defeats in 20 games and have been dumped out of Europe and the Carabao Cup. They face League One strugglers Wigan in the third round of the FA Cup - and a shock KO is unthinkable for the Dutchman.
