Ange Postecoglou has welcomed several new stars into his Tottenham team who have immediately endeared themselves to supporters. Alongside James Maddison as the marquee summer signing, six others have settled seamlessly into his favoured XI, with many as previous arrivals only just establishing themselves as key first-team members.
The likes of Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr were all purchased prior to the latest summer trading period but their first few months under Postecoglou eclipses previous performances under different tenures in north London. Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie, with the latter signed last summer from Udinese before being immediately loaned back to the Italian outfit, have also imminently made themselves undroppable from Postecoglou's starting team.
Vicario in particular was facing quite the challenge given Hugo Lloris had been Spurs' No.1 goalkeeper for over a decade after being named club captain since 2015. In recent years, Lloris' performances have deteriorated with mistakes creeping into his game and the decision becoming clear that the Lilywhites needed to sign a new shot-stopper.
David Raya looked destined to be that man but Postecoglou opted to sign Vicario from Empoli for £17.2million after deeming the Brentford man, who would go on to join Arsenal, as too expensive. The decision was questioned at the time, however Vicario has already proven it was the correct call from Postecoglou.
Lloris sees his contract expire at the end of the season,and although the plan was for him to leave this past summer, that did not materialise. As a result Lloris has remained around Hotspur Way and Vicario has now revealed how the France international has helped him
