In the heart of Liverpool’s independent creative and digital district, the Baltic Triangle you will discover two schools that do things a little differently.
Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio School offer young people aged 14-19 a secondary education which is designed to give them the practical skills and real-world experience that they will need in their future careers.
With this emphasis on being prepared for work, the feel is more like a workplace, with lessons running from 9am - 4pm and sixth-formers expected to be dressed smartly and professionally.
The prominent schools - both under the Northern Schools Trust (NST) umbrella - provide a busy, stimulating environment and one of its mottos is ‘every day is an interview’.

They have been awarded a large sum of money from the Ford Motor Company Fund, via Global Giving, as part of a wider investment to the end of 2025 to support Halewood and the wider Liverpool city region.
The funding will go towards three projects - provingindustry and education can partner together to shape the future of a region's young people.
Working in partnership with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and the Studio School, funding will be directed to further develop project-based learning provision to be shared more widely across schools within the Northern Schools Trust and others in the wider Merseyside area.
This approach gives learners a unique set of tools to help them to become “work ready” - as they have gained a wide range of technical and transferable skills that are desired by an industry, but which are not traditionally taught as part of the standard national curriculum.
