Belle Silva, the wife of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, has dropped a hint that the player will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season — and the defender added fuel to those rumours this weekend.
Silva is out of contract with Chelsea at the end of the season, and there are currently no signs of talks over a new deal to extend his stay with the club. Silva has been with Chelsea for four years after joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2020.
The defender played the full 90 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. At full time he was visibly upset and posted of his disappointment on social media after the game.
Before the match, Silva’s wife posted pictures of her and her family getting ready to watch from the Wembley stands on her Instagram story. On one of the posts of her holding a Chelsea scarf with Silva’s name on, she wrote: “It’s the last dance on Wembley.”
That hints that the Silva family are expecting this campaign to be his last at the club. That perhaps also explains the defender’s emotions at the end, with the final chance of winning a third piece of silverware with the club now gone.
Silva was a key part of the squad that lifted the Champions League in 2021. He also won the Club World Cup with Chelsea the following year.
