Roy Keane famously pointed fingers at three Arsenal players after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Liverpool in 2020. Today, none of the trio are with the Gunners anymore.
The Premier League match happened during the early days of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal reign and according to Keane, there was still a lot of ground to cover. Talking about that game and the Gunners in general, Keane said on Sky Sports at the time: «There's no getting away from that but [Arteta] will still want some improvement. His hands are tied which is a big problem because he still needs a couple more players in.
»We saw again tonight that defensively I still think David Luiz, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding, there's big question marks over them. Luiz still has that mistake in him."
Fast forward to the 2022/2023 period, Tierney was replaced in the team by Oleksandr Zinchenko. Seeing little chance to regain his position, Tierney decided to move to Real Sociedad on loan.
Though injuries have somewhat hampered his season, Tierney seems to be having a good time playing in La Liga. He has also hinted that he might wish to prolong his stay with Sociedad after the loan ends this summer.
«It's hard to say anything. But I love it here. I loved my time at Arsenal too and I still have two years on my contract, so if I'm back there. Arsenal are amazing. They've helped me the last four years,» he told The Guardian in February.
