Tottenham have confirmed that Richarlison has undergone surgery.
In a club statement on Richarlison, it read: «We can confirm that Richarlison has undergone groin surgery today (Thursday 9 November). The Brazil international will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, before returning to training in the coming weeks.»
A lay-off for Richarlison was expected following his comments to ESPN after the defeat to Chelsea. «Of course I expected to play today as it was an important game, a classic,» he said. «Yesterday I found out that I wasn't going to play, but it's part of football. Of course selection, call-up, you can ask any player and he'll be waiting. Of course I I expected it, but I already felt that it was also time to take a break.

Red cards for Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero will also see the defensive duo absent against Wolves in the Premier League with the latter serving a three-match ban.
While they will both be missing, there is hope that Maddison will be able to play as it seems his withdrawal was done as a precaution. «He [Maddison] got a knock on the ankle,» Postecoglou said. «We were down one man already. It made sense to make a couple of changes at that point.»
