Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken the first steps to beat Arsenal to the signing of Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu. The winger has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs after his impressive start to the 2023/24 season.
Akturkoglu, 24, has scored five goals and assisted a further seven in 16 games for Galatasaray this season. The Turkey international may be known for scoring at Old Trafford in Gala's famous Champions League win over Manchester United earlier this month.
Alongside Spurs and Arsenal, West Ham United are said to hold an interest. However, according to reports in Turkey, Ange Postecoglou's men are ramping up their interest in the winger.
Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic's injuries have left Spurs short out wide and plans are already being prepared for the January transfer window. Turkish newspaper Aksam has reported that the north Londoners have contacted Galatasaray for information about a deal and are seeking conversations with the player's representatives.
In an attempt to keep Akturkoglu at Rams Park, Galatasaray are hoping to tie the forward down to a new contract sooner rather than later. However, Tottenham are also said to be keen on defender Victor Nelsson too.
Spurs hold an advantage over Arsenal in the race for Akturkoglu. Last summer, Daniel Levy conducted a number of deals with the Turkish giants with Davinson Sanchez being sold to the Super Lig and Tanguy Ndombele being sent out on loan.
