Tottenham youngster Nile John will be intent on playing his part for the Lilywhites in pre-season as he looks to make an impression on new boss Ange Postecoglou. Involved in first-team training at times over the past couple of seasons, the Spurs midfielder has been one of a handful of the club's academy players to get the opportunity to train with Postecoglou's squad since their return to pre-season training last Saturday.
As a number of the club's talented youngsters have been involved on the pre-season tours in the past, John will be hoping he heads off with the first team when they depart for Australia on Friday, July 14. «Really to put an impression on the new manager and to really enjoy every moment as much as I can,» he said in an interview on SPURSPLAY. «I'm still young and I still think I can have that enjoyment and I still do when I play football, so as long as I can keep that up, I have no doubts that I can do well.»
Making his senior Tottenham bow in a Europa League clash against Wolfsberger AC in February 2021 during Jose Mourinho's time as manager, John has also had the opportunity to work on the training pitch with Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and Ryan Mason.
Picking up plenty of advice from Tottenham's previous head coaches and the players at the club, John's experience has only helped him both on and off the field.
«Working under different kind of managers has helped a lot,» he admitted. «Lots of different players, lots of different cultures, so I'm able to get a good gauge of how people and players are.
