Spurs still remain in the market for a defender — or two — to improve what was a shocking defensive display last season as they conceded 63 Premier League goals.
Tottenham supporters would say that is the most pressing issue in the transfer market, and Postecoglou may well agree given Spurs' 3-2 defeat by West Ham in their opening pre-season clash in Australia. Spurs had 32 shots in a much-improved attacking display from that seen under Antonio Conte.
They conceded three goals against the Hammers, however, from just four shots offered up — showing the defensive frailties, particularly from set-pieces, that were there for all to see last year.
But, while defensive reinforcements are a necessity, getting players out of the door is also important, with many players facing uncertain futures in north London.
