Victor Osimhen has established himself as one of the most potent goalscorers in European football during his time with Napoli in Serie A.
The Nigeria striker joined the Partenopei in 2020 and helped fire them to their first Scudetto since the days of Diego Maradona in 2022/23, scoring 31 goals in 39 games in all competitions for his club side.
While Napoli have largely struggled since that title triumph, Osimhen remains a man in demand. A beaten finalist at the Africa Cup of Nations in early 2024, the 25-year-old is widely expected to join a new club before the 2024/25 season gets underway.
Chelsea have long been linked with a bid for the player, but they could reportedly face competition from London rivals Arsenal, who are in need of an elite-level goalscorer to add the finishing touches to a strong-looking side under manager Mikel Arteta. Paris Saint-Germain, who will likely need to replace Kylian Mbappe this year, have also been credited with interest in Osimhen.
The Sporting News looks at the details of Osimhen's Napoli contract, including that all-important release clause, as teams consider whether to tempt the forward into a move.
When and where is the next Africa Cup of Nations?
