It is now three successive wins for Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side after their 2-1 victory over Everton on Saturday afternoon. Coming into the game in confident mood after getting the better of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, Spurs opened the scoring in the ninth minute through Richarlison.
The ex-Everton man was in the right place at the near post to convert Brennan Johnson's corner past Jordan Pickford. Nine minutes later it was 2-0 to the hosts as Son Heung-min found the bottom corner from inside the box after the ball had fallen kindly to him.
Given a few scares by the visitors, Everton set up a tense final with Andre Gomes arrowing the ball into the bottom corner inside the final ten minutes but they couldn't net a late equaliser despite applying some intense pressure. Skipp chance
The chance Oliver Skipp has been waiting for finally arrived against Everton. Getting minutes here and there over the course of the season so far, the Tottenham academy product was handed a rare start by Postecoglou in Yves Bissouma's absence.
Starting on the opening day against Brentford, the 23-year-old's only other start this season had come in the Carabao Cup exit away at Fulham in August. Postecoglou did admit in his pre-match press conference that Skipp would get opportunities over the festive period and he stuck to his word with the midfielder getting the nod over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Just prior to coming out for the 3pm kick-off, Spurs captain Son Heung-min spent a good few seconds talking to Skipp as he made his way along his teammates when they were standing in the tunnel next to the Everton team. Tending to just go along and give out high-fives
