Arsenal take on Liverpool this afternoon in what is sure to be a huge FA Cup clash but there's one thing that supporters will notice that will look a little different when they step out onto the pitch at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
Mikel Arteta's side will not be donning their usual red colours but instead donning their one-off all-white shirt for the third consecutive year to once again highlight their ‘No More Red’ campaign to end knife crime. The campaign was launched by the club in partnership with Adidas in 2022 and aims to keep young people safe and away from knife crime, with the club first wearing the shirt in a 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest two years ago before most recently wearing the all-white shirt against in their 3-0 win over Oxford United last year.
Arsenal Women will also wear the kit for their fourth round FA Cup clash against Watford next weekend, with the news coming as the latest data by the Office of National Statistics suggests that there were 13,503 knife-enabled crimes in London from June 2022 to the same month in 2023.
The club have confirmed that the kit, which is not and never will be for sale, will be worn ahead of their clash with Jurgen Klopp's side to raise awareness for the campaign. Arsenal have already invested into more safe spaces to play football, including a third refurbished community pitch in Islington while also leading Social Action Projects, a scheme that allows supporters to donate their time and money to help the partnered charities and have made new community t-shirts available to purchase from club stores on January 29, with 100% of the proceeds going to No More Red charity partners.
