Why Harry Kane might follow Bukayo Saka in withdrawing from England squad before Arsenal clash

Bukayo Saka has left the England squad in what is something of a blow to Gareth Southgate's plans — although it could be good news for Arsenal.

Saka didn't join in full training on Wednesday and has gone back to his club for more treatment before the friendly matches with Brazil and Belgium.

The Football Association said: " Bukayo Saka has left the England camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation. The Arsenal forward reported to St. George's Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training.

«No further replacements are planned as a 25-man England squad continue their preparation for the forthcoming internationals with Brazil and Belgium.»

It seems it's just a precaution for Saka, who has been dealing with an Achilles issue, and the Gunners could benefit from the winger getting extra recovery time ahead of important fixtures in the Premier League and in Europe.

One of those fixtures is against Bayern Munich, whose star man Harry Kane is also carrying a knock. Southgate could be without his captain for the Brazil game on Saturday, although he will hope to be ready for Belgium next Tuesday.

Kane injured his ankle when he hit a goalpost playing for Bayern Munich last Saturday, while he may well play a part this week, it would come as no surprise to see the former Tottenham man following Saka in withdrawing from the squad completely should his recovery not go to plan.

Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on their star man, revealing in a statement: «Harry Kane injured his left ankle in FC Bayern's 5-2 win at Darmstadt.
