Fans questioned why Pascal Gross escaped a red card against Liverpool after the Brighton star fouled Dominik Szoboszlai in the box on Sunday afternoon.
Mohamed Salah scored from the resulting penalty just before half-time in a quickfire double that saw Liverpool take the lead against Brighton.
But fans were left mystified over why Gross was not shown a red card after hauling down Szoboszlai in the box from what was perceived as a goal-scoring opportunity.
However, it was adjudged that the Hungarian was not moving towards goal at the time as he looked to gain possession of the ball.
It was, therefore, not seen as a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity and thus no card was shown to Gross.
But fans are not satisfied by the decision, with one saying: «Must admit I'm not sure how Gross wasn't at least booked for that tug on Szoboszlai for the penalty. He'd have been sent off 13 times last weekend»
Another wrote: «That should have been a red card for Pascal Gross.»
And a third put: «How was Van Dijk sent-off at Newcastle and Gross wasn’t? I just don’t get it.»
