Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker believes Wednesday's victory over Manchester United caps a meteoric rise to prominence for the North Wales club.
The National League champions have embarked on their first pre-season tour of America this summer as they aim to capitalise on their popularity stateside following Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's takeover of the club in 2021. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Red Dragons pulled off their most notable victory of the tour so far when they beat a youthful United side 3-1 at San Diego's Snapdragon Stadium.
Phil Parkinson's men took the lead just before the half hour mark when Elliot Lee bundled the ball home from close range. It was two moments later when a long throw caused chaos in the United area before Aaron Hayden nodded home.
Erik ten Hag watched on from the bench as the Reds gave themselves a lifeline just before the break when Marc Jurado fired home. But hopes of a comeback were dashed just after the restart when captain Dan Gore was controversially sent off for a challenge on Andy Cannon.

Sam Dalby then headed home to ensure the victory for Wrexham. While the Premier League giants will want to move on, Ker believes the result marked the culmination of an impressive rise for the Welsh team.
He told PA: "It’s been extraordinary, really. We hoped with the success of the documentary that people would turn out to see us and visit us and be happy to have us here.
"It’s exceeded our wildest expectations, really, in every stop on the journey. We always felt that with a bit of an injection of money and love and attention, the club could start to rise up the ranks in the UK.
