Arsenal supporters were quick to poke fun at former Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane after Granit Xhaka's Bayer Leverkusen took a big step towards the Bundesliga title at the expense of Bayern Munich.
The two sides came head-to-head at the summit of the German top flight on Saturday night, a game which saw Leverkusen become big favourites to win their first Bundesliga title as goals from Josip Stanisic, Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong sealed an historic 3-0 win at the BayArena.
It means that Kane, 30, who left Tottenham last summer and cited his desire to win trophies upon joining the German giants, looks all the more likely to miss out on a maiden Bundesliga title as Thomas Tuchel's side now trail Leverkusen by five points heading into the final months of the season.
And reacting to Leverkusen's win, masterminded by Xabi Alonso, Arsenal supporters took to social media to joke that 'normal service' had been resumed as Xhaka, who spent seven years as a Gunner before joining Leverkusen, had the last laugh over Kane.
@Goallinechatter tweeted: «Xhaka followed Kane to Germany to make sure he never laid his hand on a trophy. Continuing the North London rivalry In the Bundesliga. Once a gunner always gunner».
@HawkesCr7 tweeted: «Sir Granit Xhaka crashing it on Harold Kane yet again. that’s my CM forever».
