The Copper Queens currently leading Costa Rica 2-0 in their final 2023 WorldCup game, with both goals going down in history.
Lushomo Mweemba scored the opening goal with just 2:11 on the clock, giving Zambia their first-ever World Cup goal and also scoring the fastest goal of the tournament.
Barbra Banda then doubled the lead and made World Cup history in the process.
As noted by Fox Sports, The Copper Queen’s captain was brought down in the box and stepped up to convert the penalty, scoring the tournament’s 1000th goal in the process.
After suffering two 5-0 defeats in their opening two games of the tournament, the Southern African side are coming alive in their farewell fixture.
