Barbra Banda has not had too much to smile about during the World Cup, but a first tournament victory and a milestone goal saw her side bow out in style.
The Copper Queens’ Bamba scored the 1,000th goal in Women’s World Cup history, converting from the penalty spot after her shirt was pulled by Katherine Alvarado.
England’s Jill Scott scored the tournament’s 600th goal, while Lucy Bronze netted the 900th, leaving Bamba in esteemed company.
Raso does grandma proud once more
Hayley Raso only began playing football to keep up with her older brother, filling in when his team were short on numbers – now she is scoring at a World Cup.
Raso, notable for the hair ribbons she wears so her Grandma can always spot her on the pitch, gave nan Patricia, another moment to savour with a brace in a 4-0 win over Olympic champions Canada.
She opened the scoring on nine minutes, with her low strike from the edge of the box initially ruled out for offside before VAR intervened to award the goal.
