Two years ago, Sol Solomon was leading in the race to win the FA Cup Golden Boot in a historic season for Jersey Bulls.
The Channel Islands club defied the odds to reach the third qualifying round in the competition.
That run came to an end as they were edged out by Chertsey Town but it was their star attacker, with his standout white boots, that shone throughout their ride in the illustrious tournament.
Marske United’s Adam Boyes would go on to scoop the award after netting 11 goals, ahead of Solomon’s nine. And the feeling is still raw for the 21-year-old.

“I’m still wounded I didn’t win it to be fair but it was a big achievement for myself and my family,” he says speaking to the ECHO.
“I think it was Adam Boyes (who won the Golden Boot in 2021), he’s a good goalscorer but it was a proud moment."
It wasn’t long before he was venturing over the channel to play for Marine AFC in the Northern Premier League. On Saturday, Neil Young’s side will face National League side FC Halifax Town in the fourth round qualifying with Solomon looking to play a key role.
The attacker has caught the eye since his move from Jersey, taking seamlessly to the jump up in divisions after leaving the Bulls in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South.
A lifelong Liverpool fan, Solomon grew up watching the Reds lift the competition thanks to Steven Gerrard’s heroics in 2006.
Being from the British Crown Dependency with a population of over 100,000, the forward has four goals already this season and insists the feeling of scoring in the competition doesn’t ever change.
