Everton targeted Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz in the January transfer window, according to his agent.

Alcarez was on the radar of clubs across England and the rest of Europe before moving to Juventus in January, Lopez said. His 21-year-old client made 23 appearances in the first half of this season but found himself struggling for minutes after the turn of the year, leading to calls from the player’s camp for a solution.
Everton were said to be among those interested in a late swoop as the window entered its final days. The Blues were at the height of a midfield crisis at the time with Idrissa Gueye representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations and Amadou Onana, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes all struggling with injury concerns.
