Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has not dismissed the idea of leaving the club this summer, saying «things can happen». This comes after suggestions that Newcastle might have to sell him in the summer transfer window to remain compliant with Financial Fair Play and the Premier League's Profit & Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle revealed in January that they had lost £150million over the past two years. This sparked worries that they might break the Premier League's PSR. Darren Eales, the club's chief executive, said they might sell players if «the offer is too good to refuse» or there was another reason to do so.
Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for a record-breaking fee of £63million in the summer of 2022. He has scored 26 goals and made three assists in 57 matches.
His contract with the Magpies lasts until June 2028, but he could move this summer. Arsenal are one of the clubs rumoured to be interested, with football.london understanding that a 'young striker' is the profile the Gunners are looking at, with links to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres too.
Arsenal showed interest in Isak in January 2022 and have continued to monitor his situation, with the Gunners given an incentive to sign him this summer. After Sweden's 1-0 win over Albania, Isak said he's not bothered by transfer talk.
