A commentator for Chelsea's official website begged for the referee to blow the final whistle after just 65 minutes of last night's 5-0 thrashing by Arsenal.
The Blues travelled to the Emirates after winning their most recent league game 6-0 against Everton, and then pushing Manchester City all the way in their FA Cup semi-final on Saturday before being beaten 1-0.
But they delivered a dire display in north London, and were fortunate to only be a goal down at the break after Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the fourth minute.
The floodgates opened after the interval, though, as Ben White doubled the Gunners' lead, before ex-Chelsea forward Kai Havertz scored twice in eight minutes to put the result beyond doubt.
As Havertz's second goal found the corner of the net via the inside of the post in the 65th minute, Chelsea commentator Matt Davies-Adams decided he'd seen enough as he said: 'Havertz, nice shift of feet, clever finish. He's got two, Arsenal have got four. Can we have the final whistle as soon as possible please!?'
Davies-Adams has covered Chelsea matches over a number of years for the club, but will rarely have seen such a tepid performance, and he did not get his wish for the game to be ended early as Arsenal continued to pile on the misery for their London rivals.
White got his second of the game to make it 5-0 in the 70th minute, although there was more than a hint of fortune about his strike as it appeared to be an attempted cross that flew into the top corner.
His goal sparked debate among fans online over whether he meant it or not, with the player himself remaining diplomatic after the final whistle as he told TNT Sports 'I'll let everyone else decided!'
It was all smiles for White and Co at the final
