The January transfer window closes in little over a week and Arsenal have not yet sprung into action. It's been extremely quiet at the Emirates Stadium so far but that hasn't stopped fans dreaming of the club making at least one signing.
Marquinhos has been recalled from his loan at Nantes but, apart from that, not much has happened. A handful of names continue to be linked with the Gunners, however. Ivan Toney, Karim Benzema, Martin Zubimendi, Matthijs de Ligt and Xavi Simons are just some of the players tipped to make a move to Arsenal this month.
Exits also appear to be on the agenda. Emile Smith Rowe, Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsdale all have uncertain futures and it will be fascinating to see whether Edu sanctions a loan or transfer exit between now and deadline day.
Of course, anything can happen in football and there are likely to be lots of twists and turns in the final week of January. With that in mind, football.london's writers Kaya Kaynak, Tom Canton and Sam Truelove have outlined what the club should do in a dream scenario.
In reality I think Mikel Arteta would like to go out and sign the 30 to 40 goal a season striker he admits his side are lacking. Then again, in reality, I’m not the Arsenal manager — which is probably for the best.
I’m trying to keep this relatively within the realms of possibility, so a loan deal for Erling Haaland is off the cards. Instead I’m going for an audacious swoop to bring in Alexander Isak from Newcastle.
