Mikel Arteta edges closer to huge Arsenal January transfer boost as £4.3m agreement reached
Arsenal may be on the verge of sealing a late January transfer window exit that could offer them a much-needed financial boost. The Gunners spent just over £200million in the summer to sign Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber which has led to limited funds being available to spend this month.
Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Martin Zubimendi and Ousmane Diomande are just a few names to have been linked with a switch to Arsenal, however signing any of the four was never a serious possibility due to the money available to Mikel Arteta and Edu.
As a result of this situation, football.london revealed at the start of the month the Gunners were on the lookout for loan deals to cover for the loss of players due to absence and injury. Any outgoings could also help matters and one could arrive in the coming days as a result of another team edging closer to a transfer.
Galatasaray have endured a busy few days with Sacha Boey departing for Bayern Munich and Cedric Soares emerging as an option for them to sign this month, as football.london understands. And now Angelino, already on loan at RB Leipzig, will be on the move again as AS Roma are set to sign him on a six-month loan with an option to buy in the summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
That purchase option is said to be €5million (£4.3m) and his expected departure could set off a domino effect that results in Cedric departing. There is no guarantee that Cedric completes a move to the Turkish side but they will certainly be eyeing a new full-back addition with Angelino and Boey sealing winter moves.
The Portugal international has been linked with an exit for a number of windows and his departure will likely be the final one sealed to fully cement the rebuild
