Andre debate intensifies
Andre Trindade, a self-confessed Liverpool observer, would have been forgiven for swerving this game as he celebrates an historic Copa Libertadores final victory for Fluminense.
But the Brazil international midfielder, a target for the Reds in the summer, would have discovered why a player with his qualities could help elevate further this evolving Jurgen Klopp side.
It has ultimately been unfair to ask Alexis Mac Allister to continue in a number six role which simply does not suit his natural game. And while there are tougher opponents than Luton Town in the Premier League, the Argentine once again found it difficult to find his level, too often slow or inaccurate in using the ball and hounded out of possession.

With it no doubt being a long time since Dominik Szoboszlai had such an ineffective game, it was Ryan Gravenberch who, in parts of the second half at least, was the most likely midfield threat for Liverpool.
But even he had made way for the closing moments when, not for the first time this season, the effervescent Harvey Elliott made a difference from the bench by assisting the equaliser. Elliott rarely lets Liverpool down.
Mac Allister also picked up a fifth booking in 11 Premier League games, ruling him out of next weekend’s visit of Brentford. Wataru Endo, again unused on the bench here, must surely be primed to start, but the debate will only now intensify. Andre or not, Liverpool’s squad needs another established number six.
