Kieran Tierney has completed a season-long loan to Real Sociedad just a couple of days before the summer transfer window slams shut
Andy Robertson has congratulated Kieran Tierney on his transfer to Real Sociedad. The 26-year-old defender, who has faced an uncertain future at Arsenal for a while now, joined the Spanish outfit on loan for the remainder of the season as he looks for more first-team opportunities ahead of the European Championships next year.
Then, on Instagram, Tierney announced his move to northern Spain and his post was quickly flooded with message of support from the likes of fellow countrymen John McGinn and Lyndon Dykes. But, one comment from Andy Robertson stood out, raking up over 100 likes.
"Good luck KT," wrote the Liverpool defender. Fabrizio Romano, Steph Houghton, Roman Kemp and Jack Hendry also showed their support for Tierney on social media.
While Scotland are yet to confirm their place in the European Championships next summer, the on-loan Arsenal defender will be desperate to do everything he can to lead his country to the tournament in the summer. So, what better place to prepare yourself than in the Champions League.
"Playing in the Champions League is an incentive for any footballer," Tierney told Real Sociedad TV. "[Playing in La Liga] is a change for me, but I was looking forward to it. I’m passionate about challenges and I’m thrilled to be here."
Tierney, who sees his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in 2026, featured 27 times for Arsenal in the Premier League last season, averaging just 28.7 minutes per game.
