Mauricio Pochettino has been told to avoid signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. The 23-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea recently after falling out with Erik ten Hag.
Following the Red Devils' defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, the Dutchman claimed that Sancho had been omitted from the matchday squad due to his unimpressive performances in training ahead of the tie. Ten Hag said: «Jadon, performance in training so we didn’t select him.
»You have to reach a level everyday at Manchester United and we can make choices in a fortnight and yeah, so for this game he wasn't selected."
Sancho responded to his manager's comments, protesting his innocence. In a statement which was posted across his social media pages, the England international wrote: «Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
»I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
«I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what.»
Then, it was later revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Sancho this summer as part of swap-deal with Marc Cucurella. However, United pulled the plug on a potential transfer after the Blues left-back featured in the Carabao Cup second round just days before deadline day.
