Chelsea were dealt yet another injury scare during the international break after Mykhailo Mudryk was taken off late in Ukraine's 1-1 draw with England on Saturday. The winger had a quiet game for his country following a patch of poor form for his club with fans hoping to see him pick up confidence during the break.
The 22-year-old was unable to massively impact the game thoughand later went down after moving sharply on the ball with pressure from Kyle Walker. For Mudryk, who has struggled to get consistent gametime under Mauricio Pochettino after arriving in pre-season with a niggle following the Under-21 European Championships, it is a worry.
He is attempting to force his way back into the plans at Chelsea after seeing Ben Chilwell start the year at left-wing in order to add balance and experience to a youthful side. The good news for Mudryk is that ahead of Chelsea's trip to Bournemouth on Sunday, the player has returned to training, albeit in a recovery session.
Mudryk is far from the only doubt for Pochettino looking forward after he saw new signing Romeo Lavia leave training with an ankle issue. Reports over the weekend suggested it was bad news for the Belgian as he tries to boost his physical conditioning. It is said that he will now be out for at least six weeks, leaving a big role for new signing Lesley Ugochukwu.
As well as Lavia, Christopher Nkunku and Reece James remain out with no immediate sign of a return. Nkunku is expected to be sidelined until December at least and James is taking steps towards his first minutes since going off during the first game of the season at home to Liverpool.
