Chelsea have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Aston Villa this weekend. The Blues have once again been hampered by injuries to key players with club-record signing Moises Caicedo the latest star to pick up a muscular issue.
Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke were amongst the absentees from the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth last weekend — although the former was suffering with a fever as revealed by Pochettino after the game. The likes of club captain Reece James, summer signing Christopher Nkunku and Benoit Badiashile remain absent.
However, it is hoped the trio will all be back and available before the end of the year. Nkunku posted an injury message earlier this week which certainly indicated his recovery was going to plan.
On Instagram earlier this week, a story from Madueke showed Carney Chukwuemeka back in full training gear and outside after the player had hinted himself he was close to being fit. Romeo Lavia suffered a tough setback during the September international break as the Belgian midfielder picked up a fresh ankle injury — delaying his Chelsea debut even further.
Pochettino could be set to welcome back two players sooner rather than later with Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja stepping up their recovery. Chalobah is yet to make an appearance this season and was expected to depart during the summer transfer window as well.
The 24-year-old defender has been struggling with fitness since pre-season after suffering a hamstring injury — but Pochettino has been given a fresh update on Chalobah's fitness. Meanwhile, Armando Broja is closing in on a return to action after suffering a knee injury during the World Cup break last year.
