An Opta supercomputer has predicted what the Premier League table could look like at the end of the season using data from the start of the new season. After just four games, – or three in the case of Burnley and Luton Town – Manchester City are already leading the English top-flight as they looked to mount a defence of their crown.
Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham and Arsenal sit second, third, fourth and fifth 10 points a piece with only goal difference separating the four clubs. Brighton currently occupy sixth as Roberto De Zerbi hopes to retain the Seagulls' place in the Europa League, meanwhile Chelsea and Manchester United scramble for a place in the top ten.
While the data suggests that the Blues have improved under Mauricio Pochettino, they've struggled to find the net and ultimately get points on the board. As for the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag navigated wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest but he couldn't quite conquer north London.
Ahead of the new season, Chelsea and United were widely tipped to secure a place in the top-four leaving Arsenal and Liverpool at risk of settling for Europa League qualification. However, the latest simulation by an Opta supercomputer has produced results which suggest which the contrary.
As the table above shows, the Opta supercomputer has predicted City will top the table, while Liverpool finish second and Arsenal slip down into third. Following a fantastic start to life under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham have been tipped to claim fourth while United settle for fifth.
