Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke lines up former West Ham director for key role

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is lining up a new CEO at the club to replace Vinai Venkatesham at the end of the current Premier League season. It comes as the current CEO has confirmed he will be stepping down at the end of the campaign, ending a 14-year association with the club.

In a statement from Venkatesham released by Arsenal, he said: «This was a tough decision, but it is time to pursue another challenge. Now is not the time for goodbyes as I remain focused until my last day and supporting a seamless transition.”

Co-chairman Josh Kroenke added: „The Board is fully supportive of Vinai’s desire to pursue his next challenge. Whilst it is business as usual with everyone focused on the season ahead, we’d like to take this moment to thank him for his contribution and long service. Vinai will always be part of the Arsenal family and always welcome back at Emirates Stadium.

“Change and succession is something the club is well prepared for. The Board remains committed to our strategy and will address leadership change as we continue to drive the club forward.”

With the Kroenkes now making work towards a replacement that will set them up behind the scenes for the future, a new option has appeared. A report from The Sun claims that business expert Felicity Barnard is being lined up for the CEO role, having previously worked for the club.

Barnard has also held roles with West Ham as a commercial director, and is currently the deputy CEO at Ascot Racecourse as well as holding a role working for Great British Racing.
