Tottenham could be without two key players for this weekend's Premier League clash against Wolves. Injuries have significantly affected Ange Postecoglou during his first season at the club with last Saturday's clash against Brighton the first time he could name his strongest XI since early November.
Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and James Maddison all returned in January to boost the options at Postecoglou's disposal however they simply replaced three other important players in matchday squads. At the start of 2024, Son Heung-min, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma all headed away on international duty with South Korea, Senegal and Mali, respectively.
With Bissouma and Son only returning in the week leading up to the clash against Brighton, the duo were named on the bench however Sarr was included in the starting XI and he scored an important equaliser for the Lilywhites. Both Bissouma and Son were then introduced in the second half with the latter picking up the assist for Brennan Johnson's stoppage time winner.
While the focus was on returning players, there was one concern over a possible absentee going forward with Destiny Udogie withdrawn mid-way through the second half, however Postecoglou offered a positive update after the game. «No I don't think so,» he said when asked about any injury concerns from the game. "Destiny went off but I'm not sure if it was cramp, but everyone else was OK as far as I know."
However, Tottenham's open training session on Thursday has shown otherwise with the Italy international not included and fellow full-back Pedro Porro also surprisingly absent. Both are now doubts for this Saturday's home fixture against Wolves with this potential blow very similar to how it felt losing both Romero
