Tottenham 'lead' transfer chase for Liverpool target to give Ange Postecoglou midfield dream

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be leading the transfer race to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners alongside Liverpool. The Dutch star has been tipped for a move to the Premier League after his impressive displays in Italy.

Koopmeiners has scored nine goals and assisted a further four in Serie A this season. His performances have earned his praise as one of the best midfielders in Italy, earning him plenty of attention from England.

According to Italian outletCalciomercato, Tottenham and Liverpool are 'in the front row' to sign the 25-year-old in the summer. The former-AZ midfielder has a contract at the Gewiss Stadium until 2027 meaning Atalanta are expected to demand a big fee.

The report adds that the Italian side could demand a similar fee to the one Manchester United were forced to pay for Rasmus Hojlund last summer (£73million). It's said they are reluctant to sell one of their key players.

Spurs are currently well stacked in midfield underAnge Postecoglou. However, with Champions League looking more likely to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, high-quality depth will be needed.
