I support Arsenal and could have signed for Chelsea - but now will become boxing world champion

Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championships gold medalist boxer Lauren Price has spoken about how she chose Boxing over football, after having trials with Chelsea.

The 29-year-old is one of the most highly rated British boxers around, and will aim to become professional World Champions in a fight for the welterweight title against Jessica McCaskill on May 11.

The fight will be just Price’s seventh in professional boxing, and will take place at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff. She will have the support of the home crowd, having represented Wales in football 52 times from U17 to senior level.

Aead of the fight, Price has opened up about her football career. She was also six-time European champion in kickboxing, but it was boxing that became the priority.

«I had trials for Chelsea's women's team,» Price told talkSPORT.com .

«I was a massive Arsenal fan as well. Arsenal women's team they are one of the best. I've played against them in the FA Cup and I played Champions League as well.

»At the time women's football, wasn't quite there. Looking back all those years it wasn't where it is now.

«Obviously, the dream was to be in the Olympics. And I thought if boxing didn't work, I would go back to playing football but I just fell in love with the sport and it just took off for me really.

»When people say to me, 'Oh, do you miss football?' I don't, I don't really miss it because I haven't played for a long time now and because my career took off with boxing and I've been at the highest level and achieved so much in the sport.
