Harry Kane has claimed that his Bayern Munich side's 2-0 win over FC Koln on Saturday afternoon was 'perfect prep' ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Kane has been in incredible form with his new club since signing from Tottenham last summer, having netted his 39th goal of the season in 38 matches across all competitions against the Gunners in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium. 32 of those goals are in the league, with the England captain just ten goals away from breaking Robert Lewandowski's all-time Bundesliga goalscoring record of 41 goals in the 2020-21 season.
Despite that, his side sit 13 points behind Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen in what has been a torrid domestic campaign which has seen Thomas Tuchel's side exit the DFB Pokal in the third round in a shock defeat to German third-tier side FC Saarbrücken while missing out on a league title for the first time since 2012. With that, it appears Europe's elite competition will be their final chance of silverware this season but they've already been handed numerous big blows to their lineup ahead of next week's match.
On top of Alphonso Davies' suspension from the second leg, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Manuel Neuer and now Kingsley Coman are all set to miss out with various injuries, the latter of whom was set to replace Gnabry and Sane on the wings before suffering an apparent thigh injury this afternoon.
