Cristian Romero reveals key area he's improved in and what Ange Postecoglou has done for him

Cristian Romero admits he has been working on his discipline on the pitch and says that Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has given him hope that he become a better player.

The 25-year-old World Cup winner was there when Spurs needed him on Saturday to head home James Maddison's lobbed ball into the box to ensure the hosts came back from a goal down to eventually win 3-1 against Crystal Palace and maintain their top four chase as the Premier League season reaches its business end.

It was Romero's fourth goal of the season — he'd only scored once in previous seasons since joining Tottenham — and it sparked a passionate celebration from the Argentine and his team-mates in front of the south stand, with even the injured Richarlison running up the touchline to leap on the goalscoring centre-back.

Romero has been handed the vice-captaincy this season with with summer arrival Maddison, providing support to skipper Son Heung-min and the defender has relished the extra responsibility and working with Postecoglou.

«He's a great coach and I'm enjoying things greatly under him,» Romero said in an interview in Tottenham's matchday programme on Saturday. «He has a great playing style and his tactical ideas are very good. We're all enjoying it and buying into the way he plays.

»The fact that the club did this shows it's another step in the right direction, he is providing everything we need to make this step. Winning depends on a lot of things, not just the team and the staff, making sure the club as a whole is on the right road. He's given me the hope that I can continue myself and become a better player."
