Liverpool manager latest as Ruben Amorim stance outlined after Xabi Alonso blow
It seems Xabi Alonso’s name will not be announced over the Anfield tannoy next season with the Spaniard planning to stay at Bayer Leverkusen despite interest from Bayern Munich.
Liverpool believe the 42-year-old plans to stay in Leverkusen for at least another season with his club on the brink of maiden Bundesliga glory. Alonso did not rule out an exit when asked about his future in January but always stayed coy on interest from afar.
Like Jurgen Klopp, Alonso is on for a treble this season with his side in the semi-finals of the German Cup and also in the Europa League quarter-finals. They remain unbeaten all season.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness said the Bavarians anticipate it being “impossible” for the club to lure Alonso this summer. And Alonso himself confirmed on Friday that he will be staying with Leverkusen next season.
As a result, Liverpool are looking at alternatives. Ruben Amorim is one option the Reds could turn to following his success with Sporting Lisbon. He guided the club to their first Portuguese title in 19 years in 2021 and is leading the race for the crown this season.
The Telegraph has reported that Amorim is a potential option to replace Klopp in the summer as an alternative to Alonso. The same article has also mentioned that Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann is also a potential option, although despite the links it's been claimed that it's unlikely the former Bayern Munich boss will make the switch to Anfield.
