Ange Postecoglou provides Richarlison injury update ahead of Tottenham clash against Newcastle

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Richarlison will not be available for Saturday's Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

Tottenham travel to St. James' Park for the early kick-off on Saturday hoping to secure a huge three points as they battle to finish in the top four. Richarlison has been struggling with a knee issue in recent weeks and the Brazilian is not fit enough to make the trip up north.

The 26-year-old missed the north London club's last outing against Nottingham Forest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday. With Spurs not playing until April 28 after the Newcastle clash, it is hoped the two-week break will give Richarlison sufficient time to recover.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY, the Australian said when asked on whether Richarlison would be available for the trip to St James' Park: «Not for this week. He's close and, obviously with the weekend off next weekend, it'll give him time to recover — and he's on track to do that. Everyone else from last weekend has got through unscathed and are ready to go.»

Spurs' long-term absentees Manor Solomon (Meniscus), Fraser Forster (foot) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) all remain sidelined.

Asked what the plan for the two-week break was, Postecoglou said: «We'll probably just keep it in-house. We'll train right through. We feel that we get better output when we use the group and push the group as a whole. At this stage the plan is to train through and get ready for the run-in.»
