Arsenal handed major injury boost in Man City Premier League title race battle

Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in the Premier League title race with Bukayo Saka fit to play against Luton Town on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old was withdrawn during the 0-0 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Easter Sunday. Saka, who also missed international duty with England before the City game, was relatively quiet against the reigning champions as Josko Gvardiol shackled him from left-back.

Saka was replaced in the second period but the scare he suffered at the Etihad Stadium will not keep him out of the Luton visit. Arsenal welcome the Hatters to the Emirates Stadium shortly before City meet Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

There are just three points separating the top-three with nine matches to play, so having Saka fit and available will be a timely boost for Arteta ahead of the run-in. During his latest pre-match press conference, the former City assistant coach said: "Yeah, he's fine."

"Obviously, we haven't trained, we recovered. We will have a short, light session and we'll see if he's in the best condition to start the game."

Fit-again Gabriel Martinelli replaced Saka against City after missing two matches himself. He is in contention to start against Luton. Jurrien Timber is the only known Arsenal absentee as he continues to recover from an ACL injury which has kept the Netherlands defender sidelined for several months after he suffered that setback on the opening day.

Saka has totted-up 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League so far this season. Liverpool top the Premier League standings on 67 points with Arsenal (65) and City (64) in hot pursuit.
