The transfer window is now open and Arsenal are starting to look at options to bolster Mikel Arteta's squad. One of the areas of the pitch they may look to strengthen is the forward line.
Despite a below par performance at Fulham, Arsenal's defence has been up there with the best in the Premier League this season. When it comes to the other end of the pitch though, they have been found severely lacking. They are only eighth when it comes to the highest scorers in the division.
«It’s what it is,» Arteta said of his side's inefficiency in front of goal. «We have to try to generate. If we don’t score with 30 shots, then we have to do 50 or 60 to try to score. That’s the only thing. I can’t imagine a game where we have more touches in the box, more dominance and less situations for the opponent against a really good West Ham side. Today, though, it wasn’t enough to win the game.»
Unsurprisingly Arsenal are now scanning the market for potential forward additions in January. Ivan Toney is among the most heavily linked players, although it is unlikely that Brentford will want to sell. The Bees currently have Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade out injured, with Neal Maupay, Yoane Wissa and Keane Lewis-Potter their only fit options up top. With that in mind the Gunners may be better suited looking elsewhere if they are to bring a forward in in January.
One of the names they may want to look at is Victor Boniface. Reports on Tuesday have suggested that Arsenal are tracking the Nigerian forward who has been outstanding for Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
